Graduate Development Program

Our Graduate Development Program provides you with the knowledge and skills necessary to enhance your professional career while contributing to the wellbeing of the people of Australia. Conducted over two years, the Program is regularly reviewed to ensure that you receive the most appropriate and relevant training and development. The program currently includes:

  • orientation week: you will participate in a corporate induction, targeted learning, group activities and formal events with the RBA's executives;
  • online induction and compliance training: you will cover relevant laws, industry best practice and RBA policies;
  • business skills training: you will complete a variety of specialised training modules with peers designed to build business and communication skills to support your professional development by targeting effective business writing, critical thinking, communication and negotiation skills;
  • technical training: you will be provided with specialist technical training as required, delivered by leading professionals and recognised experts;
  • rotations: you will have the opportunity to pursue diverse career paths relevant to your interests and skills. Rotations are designed to broaden your knowledge of business areas and expand your internal and external professional networks; and
  • professional development opportunities: you may be involved with and exposed to special projects, conferences, research papers and presentations.

While many of our graduates have a high quality honours degree, double-degree candidates and higher degree holders with a Masters or PhD are also eligible. Alongside strong academic achievement, candidates require a genuine interest in working for a policy making institution that impacts the lives of all Australians.

All of our graduate positions are located in our Sydney Head Office where candidates need to relocate, we ensure the transition is as smooth as possible. For candidates relocating to Sydney, the RBA meets the cost of: travel to Sydney for you and your immediate dependants including temporary accommodation on arrival; removal costs for your personal effects and household furniture; the services of a relocation consultancy to provide assistance with settling in and getting to know Sydney and to help you find suitable longer-term accommodation; and a one-off relocation allowance to help meet incidental expenses associated with your move.
